Twin Cities Business names Kelly Elkin to Notable Banking Leader list

Twin Cities Business magazine has named Kelly Elkin to its 2025 Notable Banking Leaders list. Elkin serves as a commercial banking executive at Alerus, where she leads the public finance/government and nonprofit banking segment. She is one of nine Twin Cities-based banking executives to earn the recognition. Recipients were selected from nominations demonstrating a proven track record of effecting change in their areas of expertise.

Elkin is a 40-year veteran of the Twin Cities banking industry and has specialized in public financing and government and nonprofit banking since 2001. She joined Alerus in 2023 to establish its government and nonprofit lending group. Under her leadership, the segment has closed nearly $135.5 million in nonprofit financing and projects in less than two years.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Elkin has contributed her skills to numerous nonprofit organizations over the years. Since 2019, she has been a board member and member of the loan/credit and finance committees for Minneapolis-based First Children’s Finance, a community development financial institution supporting childcare businesses serving low- to moderate-income families.
