Becky Walen joins Alerus as wealth advisory services director

Alerus is pleased to announce Becky Walen has joined the company as a senior vice president and director of wealth advisory services.

Walen is a seasoned financial industry professional with 20 years of wealth services experience and deep expertise in North Dakota and Minnesota markets. She previously served as senior vice president and market development director for Bell Bank Wealth Management from 2013 to 2023 and as senior vice president and director of wealth planning at Bremer Bank from 2023 to 2024. Before joining Alerus, she served as vice president and financial planner for Thoreson Steffes Trust Company. She is an Accredited Financial Counselor, a Certified Financial Planner and holds a certification in Philanthropic Solutions in Financial Planning from the Financial Planning Association.

An active member of her community, Walen has contributed her time and expertise to numerous organizations and boards of directors throughout her career. She currently serves as a board member for Junior Achievement North and the Red River Valley Estate Planning Council. She also serves as a member of North Dakota State University’s College of Business advisory group, the College of Health and Human Sciences’ board of visitors, and as a business connections mentor. In addition, she is a member of the United Way of Cass Clay’s development committee.

In her new role, Walen will lead wealth services teams in Fargo and Grand Forks and will drive business development across both markets. She is based in Fargo.
