Alerus Chief Investment Officer Sunil Swami among 2025’s Notable Wealth Managers

Twin Cities Business magazine has selected Sunil Swami, chief investment officer at Alerus, as one of 10 notable wealth managers in the Twin Cities. Recipients were selected from nominations showcasing a proven history of professional achievements and ability to effect change in their industry.

As chief investment officer, Swami’s responsibilities include overseeing the business strategy, operations, and investment decisions to manage and advise over $8 billion of client and bank assets. He is a member of the company’s asset-liability committee, which manages interest rate risk on the company’s balance sheet, and is a frequently sought speaker on the economy, interest rates, and financial market conditions.

In 2023, he was appointed to the Minnesota State Board of Investment’s investment advisory council to contribute his expertise to matters related to SBI’s five investment programs. He was reappointed to a four-year term in 2024.
