Jeremiah Program Breaks Ground on Affordable Housing in Fargo

New Complex Brings Affordable Housing to Single Moms

Fargo's Jeremiah Program, a non-profit organization seeking to help single mothers better their lives through education, broke ground on a new campus in early June. After six years of planning and fundraising, it was incredibly exciting for everyone to see the build phase kicked off.

With more than 2,300 single mothers living poverty in the Fargo-Moorhead area, the majority of whom have children under the age of four, there is a great need for affordable housing in the community.

Here at Alerus, we are grateful to have played a small role in moving this project ahead through a donation of $750,000 made when the program was seeking funding. Our contribution was distributed through the North Dakota Housing Incentive Fund (HIF), which was created by the state's legislature to encourage investment in affordable housing.

We are very excited to see the end result of the project, which will include a new early childhood center called the Alerus Child Development Center. We couldn't be happier to be associated with this endeavor and we are thrilled to be able to support such a worthy cause.

The new Fargo campus is expected to open in January 2018 and provide housing for 20 women with children under the age of five. In addition to the early childhood center, the facility will include community spaces for the women to build life skills, confidence, and meet with coaches for support.
